Shut Up and Watch This! - Episode 73: Ghostbusters II fan commentary

In the last in the "Takin' You down to Tinsel Town!" Season, the Santa Bear (with occasional interruption from the Mama Bear) Logan Blaze & Timey are joined by The Rod (of Back to the Eighties podcast fame) as they talk over the 1989 sequel to Ghostbusters!

Well, two of them do. Timey lusts over Janine & Dana. There is a commentary here somewhere too honest.

Back to the Eighties - New Year Special 2012

It's the last show of 2012! And in BTTE Towers, it's time to welcome a special guest - Kalel Prime! Yes, it's been a while since the Batman Commentaries, so it's well past due to have the dulcet tones of Dave on the show again.

This week, the guys let you all in on what Father Christmas brought them tis year - and it's an eclectic and suprising list, I can tell you (mainly because I was there). Also on the show; some Transformers news (some good, some bad, all interesting though) and a few Star Wars stories, and Dave, Phil and Glenn answer a question posed by our very own Boglodite Thanos.

To all our listeners, a Happy and Prosperous New Year, may you live as long as you want but never want as long as you live!

RCP - Episode 155: 'I Make Hammers'

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will also have a Happy New Year over here at the Nerdsphere.

For today's release I sat down with my friends RandomCrap Ranger and StaticRift and we reviewed Green Lantern The Animated Series!

This one has been on our review list for nearly a year now, but due to other matters and Asylum screeners it kept being pushed back.

Regardless please join us in this review of a the opening 2 parter, that is 100 times better then the live action movie!

Shut Up and Watch This! - Episode 72: The Snowman (1983 David Bowie Intro) fan commentary

For the 30th Anniversary of the Snowman cartoon (which aired on Boxing Day 1982) and as part of the "Takin' you down to Tinseltown!" season, Timey and SU&WT newcomer Becca / Mettledoxy chat through the seminal British winter tale.

For the purposes of the commentary, we are using the David Bowie introduction (There are three to choose from [the other two being Raymond Briggs himself, and Father Christmas] plus the DVD version has no intro at all). You can watch this with us via "Other means" by clicking on the Youtube link HERE

(as an aside, if you are using the DVD version, play that version along with us from about 34 seconds into the commentary)

Shut Up and Watch This! - Episode 71: Timey's Christmas Commentary Roulette

(Or, alternatively, "Timey is a Christmas C**t Edition")

In a podcast fan commentary first, Timey takes over the hosting duties as he provides the Santa Bear Logan Blaze, Andy Millman and Jii Dee with three festive editions to children's shows from eras long past. There is only one thing - Timey is the only one who knows what these shows are! The other three are completely in the dark. What happens? Listen and find out!

NOTE: For the full experience of this podcast, you need to click on the links below when prompted during the podcast. DO NOT Click on them before hand: those are known as spoilers and you really don't want to spoil yourselves now, do you? The links are presented in the same fashion that they were during recording i.e. they are NOT in chronological order. Wait for the commentators to select A, B or C, then play along with them:

Stardub - The Eleventh Dub of Christmas

We've covered Television, toys, advent calendars, annuals, comics, alcohol so far in our seasonal journey, but we were in danger of getting all the way through without looking at music.  Christmas is a time of songs, carols and novelty pop songs dominate the speakers of shopping centres and schools and places of work.

Thanks to desperation and a youtube search we have the antidote.  CHRISTOPHER LEE -  A HEAVY METAL CHRISTMAS.  A two track EP/mini-album where he covers LITTLE DRUMMER BOY and SILENT NIGHT.  Listen to or podcast, enjoy it and then do your duty and buy the songs.  I've helpfully included links to purchase it below.

Stardub - The Tenth Dub of Christmas

Another ritual of Christmas these days is the Doctor Who Christmas Special, which to many of you started with 2005.

Oh you bandwagon-hoppers, didn't you know the first Doctor Who Christmas Special was in 1965 with "The Feast of Steven", our intrepid team pass judgement upon that as well as eagerly look forward to this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special and this is in no way motivated by the lovely Jenna Louise Coleman.  No, no sir not at all.

Also one of the Silent Members is upgraded to Silent But Deadly status, who do we speak of and who suffers at their hands?

Available from HERE or via our iTunes feed.

Back to the Eighties - Back to the Eighties Christmas Special 2012

Yes folks, it's hello and welcome to this year's Christmas special, where Glenn, Phil and Jii take a look back in time to 1985 and 1986, to see what Christmas telly was like back then, in the year before Eastenders took root as the BBC's festive choice year, after miserable year.

There's also all the news worth looking at, including some very interesting Lego (and not-Lego) developments, some actual good third party news, and all change regarding the Star Wars comics!

Stardub - The Ninth Dub of Christmas

We're back and in an unusual role reversal it's Ralph that has procured a random comic from Oxfam, although he's decided to give it to Andy for Christmas.

What amazing comic has he found, what delights are contained within - DINO-RIDERS ISSUE 1?

Listen on True Believer, and Andy related a tale of zoid-related heartbreak from his childhood at the behest of the Silent Member. Find out what dark event set him on the path of evil he has embraced since.

Available from HERE or via our iTunes feed.

Shut Up and Watch This! - Episode 70: Gremlins fan commentary

RCP Vs FF - Episode 98: Bitches Love Antivirus

Please join myself and Dying English as we tackle a Code Lyoko zombie story! NO NOT THIS ONE!

This one sadly has fluff.

Yeah I know ...

Relax we totally rip it apart.

Stardub - The Eighth Dub of Christmas

Christmas is a time of gift-giving and for once the intrepid Stardub team get a gift that is not from the Silent Member (Philip Ayres).  Listener and all-round swell chap @Cassius335/Alan John Wilkinson has sent the Stardub team a mystery package.

What delights await the team...

Also we've decamped from the Burns Cave to Turnbull Towers so another Silent Member joins us, we speak of Susie our canine correspondent, and the most intelligent participant of the podcast.

Available from HERE or via our iTunes feed.

The NomCast - Christmas Special 2011

Technically this is an old Episode,  but its been off the feed and availability since the crash that wiped everything earlier in the year,  so sit back and enjoy some Festive anime inspired tunes and well a few that are not.  This is what was the Nomcast Christmas special 2011.

Back to the Eighties - When the Music Stops: Christmas Special

Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas!

Yes folks, tis the season of goodwill and peace, and in the spirit of giving, this Christmas we at BTTE Towers are giving you the gift of TWO readalong classics!

First up, it's the tale of how Scrooge McDuck renounced his miserly ways (only to have them turn up in Ducktales again) in Mickey's Christmas Carol, and then, it's the turn of a true Christmas classic, as we join Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the gang for A Charlie Brown Christmas!

The Old Oilhouse - For the Next Lock-In

WE'RE LOOKING FOR THE BEST AND WORST, AND THE MEMORIES AND MUSINGS OF THE YEAR 2012.

Add your answers and topics HERE

Stardub - The Seventh Dub of Christmas

On the seventh day of Christmas our team get into the numerical swing of things and talk about Five (yes, we are that awkward and contrary), that’s right five…Christmas themed Transformer Christmas comic stories published by Marvel UK.

Fans of the boy band 5ive, I’m sorry to have raised your hopes cruelly, but I can never be as cruel as Sean. He left them. Four will be fantastic, but 5ive must always be numerically correct, otherwise what would be the point?

If you got the feeling, jump up to the ceiling, are we gettin’ down tonight…

Stardub - The Sixth Dub of Christmas

We are at the halfway stage and we’ve turned to drink (if you are still with us, I dare say you’ve already started knocking them back), in our daily dose of seasonal themed tat we’ve turned to festive ales.

We pontificate on the significance and flavours of “Clootie Dumpling” and Santa’s “Swallie”

Listen on to find out which one reminds one half of our team of beef crisps, and which beverage prompts a revelation which staggers one half of the team!

Available from HERE or via our iTunes feed.

Shut Up and Watch This! - Episode 69: Lethal Weapon fan commentary

God lord, this show is full of camp! I blame Skey.

In this instalment of the "Taking you down to Tinseltown!" Season, The Santa Bear Logan Blaze & Timey are joined by Simon "Silverbolt" Skey as they talk over the movie thats set at christmas, yet looks like a summer movie and was actually released in march 1987 - LETHAL WEAPON!

Stardub - The Fifth Dub of Christmas

On the fifth day of Christmas our team inexorably find themselves talking about Transformers again. Oh don’t act all surprised, you knew it would happen just as we did!

This time, we talk about one of the most seen dead wood version of Transformers: The Movie. We speak of course of the Marvel UK Transformers Winter Special of 1986, which if you were lucky enough you got for Christmas along with Ultra Magnus and Galvatron – “The New Leaders”.

If you didn’t you either hadn’t been born, or your parents hated you. Harsh, but true.

Available from HERE or via our iTunes feed.

The Old Oilhouse - Oiley's Ol' Arcade EP 36: The End

The Ol Arcade rolls to a stop with this episode. Don't fret though, it returns next year with a shiny new paintjob and fun for all the family. For this last hurrah of Season One, we grab Crazydave from the Cumbria Gamers Unite facebooks.

Stardub - The Fourth Dub of Christmas

And lo it came to pass that on the fourth day of Christmas one of our number was so affected by the season he began speaking in tongues.

I'll let you all try to puzzle out which one of our team with a penchant for vocal mimicry and dazzling accents decides to wade through the He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special in character, or as A Character (scottish people will know what I mean) and which one of us ends up laughing and wondering whether he should be getting the other chap sectioned.

STARDUB - THE THIRD DUB OF CHRISTMAS

On the Third Dub of Christmas, a rare insight into the blackened, shrivelled husk of a heart that pumps bile around the body of one half of our team.

Andy shares with you The Transformers Annual from 1985, which ranks as his favourite christmas present of all time, and yes he manages to reference the dreadful Redhorn the Terrible related incident that happened that same year.

Available from HERE or via our iTunes feed.

Back to the Eighties - Episode 129

It's nearly Christmas at BTTE Towers, and Glenn, Phil and Jii are getting ready by reading out your lists to Father Christmas! There's also all of the news that's fit to talk about this week (including some news about GI Joe: Retaliation, the new Star Trek movie and even Man of Steel), and there's even a discussion about crisps which ends up making Glenn and Phil feel decidedly old (Jii, not so much.)

Stardub - The Second Dub of Christmas

It's day two of the Twelve Dubs of Christmas, and the worlds of Christmas and the Turnbull Taste Challenge collide in a yuletide slobberknocker of epic proportions as the licensed chocolate purveyors Kinnerton have two of their advent calendars under the spotlight.  Vague disappointment or glory awaits you, just as if you were peeling back the window of an advent calendar yourself.

How very meta of us...

The Old Oilhouse - Iacon 201 EP 8: Vs Malwave

This time out, Tricky shackles the interesting Malwave down and interrogates him for hateful thoughts.

Stardub - The First Dub of Christmas

The festive season is all about giving, so here in the nerve-centre of pop-culture cenobites everywhere that is Stardub we’ve decided to join in with the giving. So every day for the next twelve days you will get a new episode of varying length, looking at something seasonal and tat related.

Fans of our previous rant about the Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger should enjoy this one!

The Silent Member (aka Philip Ayres) provided the DVD for this episode, but in no way is he deserving of thanks. Revenge perhaps, but no thanks.

Glenn's not here this week, so Phil has enlisted the help of two, yes TWO people this week to assist with the podcast, you lucky people. Joining Phil this week are Jii, the esteemed third member of the BTTE team, and Andy, the Moon Baws himself! Together, they discuss topics as diverse as Lego, Kamen Rider and the new Star Trek movie trailer, as well as all the news goodies you've come to expect from our little show.

In the latest in the "We're Taking You Down to Tinseltown!" series, the Santa Bear Logan Blaze and Timey are joined by GodPikachu and SU&WT newcomer James Owings / Hikuro as they talk over the movie that proves that boobs make good checkpoints, when a wifebeater turns brown you're in deep shit and that NY police officers are tougher than tough: DIE HARD!

Note: Unfortunately due to situations beyond our control, there are some sound issues with one of the commentators. But we found it rather amusing and hopefully, so shall you winking

RCP - Episode 154: Megatron's Stupid As Hell Plan!

Earlier in the year I was a guest on Ranger Bar Radio where we discussed a few episodes from season 2 of MMPR.

In return I invited Batz onto my show to discuss a certain 2 parter from Transformers season 2 that has well, always bugged me. Sad thing is this is how I was introduced to Transformers as a kid, man I miss those rental VHS days ...

Stardub - 2.23: Moviedrain

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Ralph has finished the great challenge set by co-host Andy to see 100 films at the cinema in 2012.  An ordeal capped off by the Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger.  Remember David Tennant used to be Doctor Who, cling on to that fact as you hear about the most awful film of the year.  (Ralph has a different opinion, but I control the website so there!).

We then cast a bit of a critical eye over the 100 films and Ralph's choices and his most criminal omission.

A handy list of the films can be found HERE in Ralph's order of appreciation.

Shut Up and Watch This! - Introvault Episode 0: Timey & Gruff's Christmas Feast

You can thank my co-host Dying English for the fanfic choice, however you can thank me for the terrible cover art LOL.

Regardless in today's episode we read the 1st chapter of a Teen Titans/Doom 3 crossover fanfic. Please enjoy.
